Previewing the Great Gatsby

I think the book is considered a masterpiece because of how honest and simple it may turn out to be. If the book lacks answers to problems or comforting messages, then the aspect that is so great must be its simplicity and description of how life was back in the 1920's, without sugar coating it.
I don't expect to read about a man's boring life, but I do expect wild adventures, insight to the extravagant lifestyle, and the very common problems people experienced during the 1920's. I feel because the book is so true, it cannot be ignored, and allows people to relate to the story line easily. In the 1920's, readers could probably see themselves in the book, going through the same experiences as Gatsby and coming to the same conclusion.
